Ruffle Pants

We haven't told the girls about our upcoming Disney trip yet, but I've begun the search for their outfits...when I get onto something, I go a little over the top! I found these super cute outfits on Etsy...

And at first I'm thinking $30-$35 per set? Certainly I can make these!

So I found a pretty good tutorial and started to make a pair for Lanie...And they turned  out so small I'm not sure if Addy can squeeze into them...

So on my second try I succeeded (minus the thread color, LOL!) But I have issues with the casing for the elastic...I'm not sure why I can't get it, but it's so difficult for me.

I love how big the ruffles are! I'm currently working on a pair with a Red and White polka dot flare...Hopefully I'll have them finished up tomorrow :) I'll also add the tutorial because it is seriously pretty easy!

Well, this is my first post of 2012!

It has been a little over a year since I started blogging, I can't believe it! It's neat to look back now at the pictures and compare :) I will probably do A LOT of compare posts!

With Justin working up in Concord and school starting back, I just haven't had time to blog :( I've kept up with other blogs though and they are still inspiring! So what's new? Well...Justin leaves @ 5:30 a.m. every morning in order to go to the gym before he leaves for Concord. Tj and Justin opened up a new Sonny's location! It's very exciting, yet very tiring. I'm proud of them and I know they are having fun!

School started a few weeks back and I'm taking Biology. There is so much information my brain is going to explode, lol. It is neat though b/c I do remember some of these things from high school. I'm also taking Developmental Psych, and it's very interesting.

Work has been crazy, it's so different not having Justin & Tj around...I've worked with Justin for the last 7 years or so, I'm definitely having withdrawals from seeing him :(

To catch up from my Bathroom Reno..This was before, *GAG* what what I thinking?

First I painted the walls...

Then removed the old light fixture. I installed my first wall box
(is that what it's called? ha!)

I also removed the mini blinds and hung faux wood blinds to match the rest of the house
My plans are still to frame the mirror (when I have time ;) )

Love those distressed frames to the left? Luckily, about a year ago I spray painted them white, then I forgot about them and they rusted and peeled up. PERFECT!
I bleached them to get the rust off and wiped them down...

If you haven't figured out by now, I go through obsessive phases. Matilda Jane ring a bell? Well, I've discovered Organic Bloom Frames. They started as a small company (still are small) but they are so very popular now. They make these amazing frames in tons of different shapes and colors! Thanks to many of you I won an 8x8 frame from them :) (THANKS AGAIN!) Well, I've ordered several and I am seriously in LOVE! See the frames in this picture? Those are some of them :)

The 2 on the side are Mary Anne 5x7's simply in Black.
The one in the middle is a June 8x10 in Morning Grey, You can tell it has a blue hint.
I'm not sure what pictures I'll put in these...My original idea was to make prints of white brick, I still may do that...

What's Left:
  • As I mentioned before, frame the mirror with white molding
  • Fix the Tile around the bath & add trim
  • Paint cabinetry
  • Hang shelving
  • Do Pinterest ideas for decor

Ok, Until Next Time :)
Thanks for reading!

Christmas Is Over

We had such a great week off during the Christmas holiday. Time flew! I was able to paint the bathroom walls, baseboards downstairs, install the light in the bathroom and de-clutter some. I still have much more de-cluttering. While doing that we finished buying the last minute Christmas gifts and lounged around.

We all know that Christmas isn't just about giving and receiving gifts, but let's be honest...most of us DO these things. Christmas Eve, Justin & I stayed up late to set up the girls' Christmas. We decided to leave some of the bigger things unwrapped so they could see them first off. I was proud of our little creations...

So we made it to bed sometime after midnight, not really sure when, and I was almost to excited to sleep! We woke up about 7:00 a.m. and Lanie was still snoozing away. Justin tried to wake her up by "ho ho ho'ing" and finally she got up, ran into our room and told us it was "TIME" We went and woke Addy up and made the girls wait while we turned lights on and made last minute touches...

This is pretty typical of the girls...Addy is going through a stage
right now where she doesn't like her sissy to mess with her!

Lanie leaving the milk and cookies out for santa

Telling the girls it was bed time!

Early Christmas Morning

We had the video camera rolling as Lanie walked downstairs. We obviously expected a shriek and a scream of excitement...but instead...we got...NOTHING!! She immediately said "See, told you"

We asked why she wasn't jumping up and down excited that she has gotten exactly what she's been asking for for months on end, and her response was...

"Some kids just like to be calm"

annnndddd that's when the video camera shut off. Seriously, where does she come up with this stuff?

I think this is Addy's favorite gift...they are wooden bottles with magnetic lids you can pull of and put back on

We turned the camera back on and she eventually got more and more excited as she saw all the presents. Justin's parents and sister came over and we all exchanged our gifts then headed off to our Christmas morning service at church

I hope that everyone had a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Time to start off the New Year!
I still have LOTS to clean up from Christmas morning ;)

Anniversary Trip Part 2

Day 5
We were supposed to port in Honduras on this day, but the captain couldn't because it was too windy. We were so close and it looked beautiful. There was green everywhere with tons of mountains. I want to go back someday! So we headed towards Costa Maya and we had an extra day at sea. I soaked up the sun and Justin played some dodge ball and basketball.

Day 6
Costa Maya Mexico
So we woke up early Thursday and we were SO ready to get off the was raining :( We were bummed at first but we didn't realize it was before 6 a.m. local time and we were assured this was normal and it would burn off. So we braved the rain and got off the boat. We had debated on doing an excursion since we didn't port the day before but we never did. The port in Costa Maya was very big and there were the usual shops. There was a really neat restaurant where you could sit in the water at tables and eat and swim around. It looked neat but it was so early we didn't attempt it. We walked around and decided to see what there was to do. From the ship you could tell this was very un-populated. To the right of the port here was NOTHING, I'm talking nothing but beaches and trees. To the left you saw very few beaches, we knew we needed to do something! We ventured to the edge of the port and of course locals were offering beach breaks and transportation. We noticed a group of people dealing with them and asked what they were doing...and the day began! We joined this group of 13 people and ended up getting a beach break excursion for around $25.00 a person! When we got to the beach, it was rained a little bit but not too bad. There was some covered huts with tables and we had our own personal waiter. We had unlimited use of the kayaks too! I ended up getting a 40 minute massage for $20.00 (yes, $20!) I was sore for 3 days after, lol. We rented Jet Ski's and had a blast. Best of all we made some awesome new friends. They are from Tennessee, not too far away. They have kids around the same age as ours, we will definitely be hanging out with them again :)

That night was the second Formal Night and our new friends invited us to sit at their table! The group was so big we ended up getting the "captain's table" It was huge!

Captains Table

We had such an awesome time on our Cruise, there is nothing like being away with your love for a whole week, by yourselves.

End of the semester...and a new project visual:)

I've been MIA lately because school has overtaken me. I tried to stay on schedule as much as possible, but because of our vacation I got a tad behind. So I've been catching up the last two weeks so I could finish the semester. I finished my Soc 101 class with an A (woohoo!) and my Psych 101 exam is Tuesday night. I really enjoyed these two classes and I have learned a lot from them. I'm a little sad to leave my Psych class because my teacher was just amazing (if anyone takes Psych 101 @ SCC- Take Rushton)  Getting back into school was a change; but hard work pays off!

Ok, enough about school, right? I'm off for an entire month and I plan on staying busy! Lanie and I have plans to make some special Christmas cookies next week and I've got a project up my sleeve, who knew.

Our bathroom has been the same for 4 years now, and I'm just ready for a change. We have Ralph Lauren Metallic Gold walls, Green rugs, a Dark brown bookshelf and tortoise shell accents.

*I'll add some pictures tonight*
Adding Current Pictures:
You can see my paint can on the tub-hehe

So over the next 3 weeks I plan to transform it into something a little lighter and crisper. My vision is clear in my head, but man is it hard to get it out!

List of things I have to look into (so I don't forget!)
Towel Bars
Bath Rugs
Lighting Choice
Molding for Mirror

Also, I'll update with the second half of our trip soon, :)
